Notes: I wanted to do a WWI trench warfare type map. I soon realized that actual trenches would be too hard to do and might prove to be rather boring. So instead I opted for hilltop pillboxes. Great places to put plasma cannons on. I started out with rather basic structures at first (as noted on top left on map) but as I got more proficient I did more elaborate structures later on. But ironically its the bacic structures that look cooler. Some of my pillboxes were way too elaborate and were a pain to make heightmaps out of. Most of them should be quite workable though. I spent enough time on them. Then instead of trenches I used trees to break up enemy rushes. Not %100 effective but good enough. The huge mountain in the middle I made to break up the two sides a little. That took more time to make than I care to remember. It's basically a 1 on 1 map but added four starting positions so that 1 and 3 could team up on one side against 2 and 4 on the other. Special thanks to TADD for the cacti used on the mountain and also for the AI which works nicely on this map.

A note on filesize. Sorry about the rather large file size. It's due to the many larger structures on the map. Larger than most other structures and thus require more tile pieces. To reduce the file size I ran around each pillbox etc. with a basic 256 ground piece to reduce the amount of different tiles on the map. Also took a 256 mountain piece and ran that around the inside of the large mountain in the middle. Shaved off nearly 2 megs that way. Heh.

Core Commander had come across what appeared to be an ancient battlesite on planet HK-27. Satellite surveilance had identified something out of the ordinary in the huge flat mountain that dominated the region. It appeared to be of artificial origin and from sonic waves shone on it - hollow. So our beloved commander had set out personally to investigate the site. He soon discovered many smaller mountain-like objects that were definately not natural. At least not all. Most had trenches placed in front of them. Possibly to halt oncoming advances. The heights of these objects would give great tactical advantage over the surrounding flat ground. But the center mountain is what interested our commander most. This mountain actually had steps running to the top. And even more confusing. It had cacti growing on top. Imagine. Cactus growing in the middle of a great forrested area. That mountain definately had some secrets to unlock. That is, of course, the exact thoughts that the Arm Commander had on his mind as well...................
